Community Outreach
A key cornerstone of the Student Leadership Academy is community outreach and service. This includes service to local institutions, state institutions and national programs. Each student in the Leadership Academy is required to clock 20 hours of community service for one academic school year. Community service is documented in a student's leadership portfolio, along with their reflection and experience volunteering.
To engage in community service and outreach, the Student Leadership Academy participates in a variety of programs and events. For example, and to just name a few, Adopt a Family, Make a Wish, Give Next, Middle and Elementary School Mentorship programs.
The Student Leadership Academy also participates in a variety of local volunteering opportunities while encouraging students to find programs and institutions that they are passionate about to volunteer. As we strive everyday to become servant leaders, community outreach and volunteering are two ways in which the Leadership Academy strives to achieve that goal.
